Hello friends, again after long gap, hope you all are happy and enjoying the life!
In todays short post I will be sharing the settings which you should consider to change to make sure your data is protected and your privacy is maintained while using Facebook.
You may already aware about the news of Facebook data breach about which Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg has also posted his statement which you can read here.
You should understand that Facebook has provided many settings to maintain the privacy of your data but most of us are not aware about it so with default settings we are sharing lots of our personal information with many apps on Facebook. Lets check how you can avoid that.
First lets configure how app should use your personal information.
Go to settings, and click on "Apps" on left side, which will open a page like below.
You can see the list of apps which has access to your public information.
Either you can remove the app by hovering on it and clicking on remove button or you can uncheck the information you don't want to share with app by clicking on "edit" button like below.
Along with this, you can also consider disabling the platform if you are not using any app, plugin , games etc.
Once you done with this, click on "Apps others use" link, which will show the information you are sharing with apps even when you are not using it but your friends are.
You can consider uncheck all and save.
If you are using app, same settings you can find in Settings > Account Settings > Apps.
With all these settings you are protecting your data at some level, but along with this you should also consider to review your privacy settings which will allow you to configure who can view your profile, posts, photos. Also you can configure who can comment on your posts, who can search you on Facebook and in search engines like google, bing.
Hope you are benefited with this post. Do share with your friends and family and make them aware.
